11-3-18 Drone Show Notes

Hi!
I'm Aaron Avila.

Thank for taking interest in my unique drone show.

I use a DJI Spark to raise stroke awareness.

Today's show topic
Drone Cinematic Sequencing

What is a cinematic drone sequence?
It's about a five minute video containing a compilation of cinematic drone shots sequencing or changing clips every three to five seconds.
It's important to tell a story and maintain content or subject continuity within your video.

Before I give you the impression I know what I'm doing regarding producing cinematic drone sequences, I want to make very clear "I Don't"

I've studied hours of video tutorials on producing and flying cinematic sequences but have no real hand on stick flight time.
(Remember I'm a one handed, half paralyzed stroke survivor) So I can only control one stick at a time.
(Read my personal stroke survival story here)

So bottom line is I have lots of theory with no actual flight time or post production work experience.
So I'm learning as I go, and will share with you what I learn.

My goal
To produce quality content that you can apply to your pilot and post production skillset.

As a half paralyzed, wheelchair bound stroke survivor I'm embarking on a drone journey.

I will try and produce a drone show that:
  1. Raises stroke awareness
  2. Inspires you on a human level
  3. Will share valuable drone tips and tutorials
I want to hear from you!
I want this show to be about us as a drone community, not just about me.
I want to engage and interact with you!

A future vision for my show.
Is to host a live Drone Talk Show Segment.
So if you're interested in being a quest on my drone talk show, please leave me a message in comments and I'll contact you with the details.

In today's I Can't Walk But I Can Fly Drone Show
I'm implementing and learning a drone cinematic filming technique called Cinematic Drone Sequencing.

This was my very first time trying to fly and produce in post, a cinematic drone film sequence.

What did I learn on my first filming attempt.
Note
(My son got called into work on an emergency and I only had time to film three clips).
  • A true cinematic sequence video averages around ony five minutes long.
  •  A cinematic drone sequence should use a fresh clip within video every three to five seconds to maximize viewer retention. So an average five minute cinematic sequence would use about 65 cinematic movements in it. This insures the best viewer engagement and retention possible.
So as you will see in today's video and due to transportation issues, I was only able to film a few cinematic sequences and I missed the needed clips to produce a true cinematic sequence. I'll do much better next month peeps!

In this first video, look at it more like learning the sequencing concept but I  need a lot more cinematic clips to achieve a true drone cinematic sequence video.

What you can expect from my show next month.
Ryan and I  found a small field with circa 1800's steam driven farm equipment on it.
I am going to get permission to fly it and I will produce what I hope will be a full Drone Cinematic Sequence Video.
I'm so excited about shooting this sequence!

Remember,
for now I produce my show on the first Saturday of every month at 2 PM PST. Broadcast live on my YouTube Channel here.

I will be doing my best to increase my drone flying and post production skills over the months to come.

I hope I can produce enough drone show value, you'll consider following me.

Sincerely,
Your bro,
Aaron
